Port Louis (Mauritius) – May 1, 2017 (travelindex.com) – A Golf Pass designed for avid golfers to visit Mauritius. The Tourism Office in collaboration with the Mauritius Golf Tourism Association (MGTA), proceeded with the official launch of a Golf Pass, Golfing Mauritius Pass, during a press conference organised at the headquarters of the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA), in Port-Louis, Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

This initiative is part of the strategy of the MTPA to highlight the many strengths of the island and to introduce Mauritius as a golfing destination par excellence for players of all levels, amateurs and professionals, all year round. “With the Golfing Mauritius Pass, we have the ambition to establish Mauritius as a Golf Destination and to attract more visitors during the winter period,” says Kevin Ramkaloan, the Director of the MTPA. The MGTA, the organisation regrouping the 9 golf courses of 18-holes in Mauritius and whose committee is made of Golf Directors, has already put together a number of actions to position the island as a golf destination. The MGTA works closely with the MTPA for the promotion of the island, especially for the golf segment. The association has recently launched a web site MauritiusGolfTourism.com to facilitate users in their search of information on the golf and the golf courses of the island of Mauritius.

A Facebook and twitter pages are available, under Golfing Mauritius, for regular information and updates. “On the web-site, the visitor can also buy his Golfing Mauritius Pass and thus, can book several rounds of golf even before travelling. The Golfing Mauritius Pass gives access to world-class standard golf courses at a preferential green fee” explains Alain Lenoir, president of the MGTA.

Over and above attracting golfers to visit Mauritius all year-round and to ease access to our golf facilities, the Golfing Mauritius Pass will also serve to promote the golf courses of Mauritius around the world.
